    The Townsend Act placed taxes on lead, glass, paint, paper, and tea brought into the colonies. By passing the Townsend Acts, the British government showed it believed that Parliament still had the authority to make laws for the colonists.

    The Boston Massacre was a fight that broke out between the British and the Colonists. Three Colonists were killed, and two died later. The soldiers fired their weapons. Colonists in the crowd started to shout insults at the soldiers and began to throw rocks and snowballs.

    The Boston Tea Party was a boycott for Tea. It wasn't really a Party though. Colonists were being taxed on tea so they decided to boycott it. On the night of December 16, 1773, members of a group known as the Sons of Liberty boarded the ships that had tea on them. Disguised as Mohawk Indians, they broke open 342 tea chests and dumped the tea into the harbor.

    The Treaty of Paris really ended the war. This is when the British and Americans sent representatives to Paris. There the representatives stated the American terms- that is, what the Americans wanted in the treaty. They wanted the British kind and Parliament to accept American Independence and to remove all British soldiers from American soil.
