  • Navigation act

    Only can trade and work with British ships. Not fully enforced till 1760s when more acts had been put in place.
  • The Townshend Act

    This act placed a tax on glass, paper, lead, and tea. the colonists became violent often reacting poorly towards tax collectors and officials. This tax changed the way governors were payed giving them more freedom to do as they will without blackmail.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar act placed a tax on the trade of molasses, rum, and slaves. Colonists were beginning to get rich and the British economy wasn't doing very well because of the Indian war. The Colonists did not agree with being taxed with out a vote in British government. The British thought it was a good plan making 76,000 pounds more than they had in the past off of stricter taxing.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was the heavy taxing of paper products including legal documents that need the royal stamp to be legal in the court of law. The colonists did not agree with the act and boycotted British stores leading to the repeal of the act a year later.

  • Quartering act

    Was an act set to require American colonies to provide housing and food for British soldiers. The colonists did not like this so the British enforced it more.
