  • Navigation Act

    Navigation Act
    Used to regulate trade and let the parliament collect taxes. The colonists were okay with it in the begging then the British started over taxing the colonies and they got upset. The British were happy because they were allowed to tax the colonies to pay off their debt.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The sugar act said that any food made with sugar or molasses had to have a tax. Again the colonists were very upset and protested. Some colonists even refused to use the stamps. The British Parliament was angry that they were in debt and used the taxes to get money.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This act taxed any written document. whether it was a public newspaper or a government official paper it had to be paid for. The British created a tax for the colonies. The British were in debt and taxes helped pay that off. the colonists were upset and protested this act very quickly. British parliament was happy in the beginning because they were getting their debt paid without having to do any work.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    "An Act for Restraining and Prohibiting the Governor, Council, and House of Representatives of the Province of New York, until Provision Shall Have Been Made for Furnishing the King's Troops with All the Necessaries Required by Law" which says they had to pay for the soldiers salaries. all of the tax money paid the soldiers. The Colonists thought it took away some of their rights and again opposed the act. The British government wanted control over the colonies and was slowly losing it.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    The British government wanted to assert their rights to tax the colonies, so they made this act. " This crisis focused attention on the unresolved question of Parliament’s relationship to a growing empire" The colonies wanted to separate themselves. The government was scared.
