Nelson Mandela, conspiring to overthrow the state, was jailed for his actions in South Africa. This is related to culture and society because apartheid is a strict racial segregation system towards people of color, similar to Jim Crow Laws. This is significant because Apartheid was introduced after World War 2 all the way until 1990. -

Decolonization is the process after World War 2, where countries gain independence under imperialism. This is related to culture and society because countries are fighting for their culture and society and independence. This is significant because countries that were imperialized did not want to fight for independence because there were World Wars going on.
