At the Miñor Sanatorium in Oviedo, Asturias, being the first of three daughters the result of the journalist's marriage Jesús José Ortiz Álvarez and y María Paloma Rocasolano Rodrígez.
Letizia's parents were married from 1971 until their divorce in 1999 and they had two more daughters -
School and childhood
She attended Basic General Education at the public school La Gesta in Oviedo and continued her studies at the Alfonso II Institute, while receiving ballet classes three days a week. Due to her father's work, the whole family had to move to live in the town of Rivas-Vaciamadrid, so Letizia Ortiz, who was 15 years old, continued her training at the Ramiro de Maeztu Institute. -
University
After finishing high school, he enrolled at the Complutense University of Madrid, where he graduated in Information Sciences, branch of journalism. While in college, he began to collaborate with the ABC newspaper and the EFE Agency, joining the latter's international policy area during his last year of college. Later, between 1992 and 1993, she did an internship at the newspaper La Nueva España in Oviedo, working in the areas of economics, television and entertainment.
