When he left school, Reginald Mitchell went to work for Kerr, Stewart & Co. They are were company that made trains and they are still working today. -

He moved to a company that designed and made airplanes. Here he quickly moved up to become Chief Engineer in 1920 and Technical Director in 1927. -

The Supermarine S6 won Mitchell his second Schneider Trophy.

The Supermarine S6B won the Schneider Trophy and later broke the air speed record.
Just 17 days after winning Mitchell the Schneider trophy for a third time, the Supermarine S6B broke the air speed record! -
Reginald Mitchell was awarded the CBE for his works in the aviation industry.
The CBE is one of the highest honors you can receive from the Queen. CBE stands for Commander Order of the British Empire. This was strongly linked to his efforts to win the Schneider Trophy. -
The first Spitfire took to the skies.
20,351 Spitfires were ever made. Today only 60 Spitfires are still able to fly. -
