In 1980, war broke out between Iran and Iraq. Efraim Karsh, who was a resident of Iran, was forced to leave his homeland to save himself. He left his country on November 2nd.

Days were spent traveling by sea and others by road. The journey was coming to an end. Efraim had arrived in Thessaloniki for a new beginning.

In Thessaloniki they looked at him with half an eye but he didn't care that much. He found a job just enough to survive.

As he had found a stable job with a good income, at the same time he met his wife who eventually had children.

Years passed and Efraim felt that his body was weakening and he went to the hospital to have it checked. He discovered that he had cancer due to radiation but it was too late to save him. He died in September 1994 and his death was swift.
