    During the Middle Ages, Pope Gregory I was born of a great Christian family in 540-604. Pope Gregory I was know as Gregory the Great and was the first Monk to be elected Pope, bishop of Rome. Even though his health was not great, he was famous to Rome for his virtuous life. He was the first to convert vising pagan Angelo-Saxons from England to Christianity. He was a model for Popes and even secular leaders.

    In the Renaissance Reformation, Queen Elizabeth I was born in 1533-1603. At a very young age Queen Elizabeth was raised to be an educated woman. Taking over for her cousin, she was the first woman to run the monarchy of England for 44 years. As a Catholic leader he goal was to convert England into Catholicism. She was also an independent woman who defied the ways of tradition. She never married to remain focused on her job.

Unlike the leaders before him, Voltaire challenged the Catholic Church and stood for freedom of religion & expression, and separation of church and state. His beliefs led to the French Revolution and the United States Bill of Rights.

Gandhi was known as a human rights activist who advocated for people in poverty, harmony between people of different ethnicities and religious views and women's rights. Gandhi was known as a Great Soul and would protest and strike in a non-violent way.

Oprah is a media executive mogul and first black female billionaire and philanthropist. The Oprah's Book Club contributes to the publishing world that helps new writers become known.
