Lord Selkirk takes over HBC and sells some of the land to immigrants -
Pemmican Proclamation
Miles Mcdonall creates the Pemmican Proclamation because he was worried that he would run out of food. This angered the Métis because they relied on pemmican sales. -
Métis Angry
They Métis were bothered by the cllonists and they would do things like running over their crops, firing guns at night and even burning down buildings. -
Battle of the Seven Oaks
Métis got angry over Pemmican Proclamation so they fought the white settlers. -
The HBC and NWC Merge
HBC and NWC ended up merging because they werent doing well financially so they had to resort to becomnig one big company. -
Land Surveyors
Land speculators came to the Red River Colony and they started dividing up land. They didn't know that the Métis had already calimed that land. -
National Comitee
Riel makes the National Commitee. They tried to get rights for their land in this Commitee. -
McDougall
Lieutanant governor William McDougall tries to greet the Métis and check on the land but the Métis rudely tell him to leave. -
List of Rights
Métis create a list of right asking for better educaitiobn, to keep culture etc. They bring this to the government but they dont agree to the conditions. -
Fort Garry
Métis seize Fort Garry. -
Provisional Government
Riel makes Provisional Government as a way to keep order maintained and to discuss their concerns. -
Thomas Scott
When they took over Fort Garry, the Métis arrested members of the Canadian Party. One of them was Thomas Scott. In jail he threatened Riel so Riel had him excecuted later on. -
Scott's Excecution
Thomas Scott's excecution brought a lot of attention to the Métis. The french sympathizes with them because they know how it felt to be disliked. John A. Mcdonald did not arrest Riel for killing Scott because he didn't want to lose french voters. -
A Resolution
John A. McDonald wanted peace. So to achieve this piece he made an agreement with the Métis. They got some rights and they even got their own land called Manitoba. -
The Manitoba Act
The Manitoba Act was created on July 15th.
