She is very brave when they are pulled over by the cops. She used to believe that around every corner their were crooked cops that would kill her, but instead she is calm and does not freak out when the cop flirts with her. -
She buys a Nice White Dress at a Flea Market
Sophie makes a breakthrough when she buys a dress at a market in Mexico. In Tucson, Sophie would have never bought something from someone she didn’t trust without making up the worst case scenario. She has now had life-changing experiences that have taught her to be more open and adventurous. -
Sophie Goes to Guatemala to Find Angel
Sophie decides to take the biggest risk of her life when she decides to leave Pablo’s village to check on Angel. She understands that this will be the most dangerous thing she will ever do, and decides that finding Angel is too important. She is determined and not scared and that is the biggest change that she has made. -
She Swims Naked in the Creek
In the book, Sophie says that she would have never shown even her elbows in Tucson. This is a big step for Sophie because she is more open and less insecure than she had before she left Tucson. -
She Accepts Pablo Decision to Stay in Mexico
Sophie realizes that she can’t be selfish and must accept he decision Pablo has made. She knew that he made the decision for himself and not her. She was hurt ,but she knew that he had decided and she needed to accept it.
