  • Last "normal" trash day

On this day the average number of trash bags per week was recorded at 7.
  • Period: to

    Experiment duration

  • Today I noticed that our recycle bin was almost full earlier than usual

  • Today was the first time In awhile my sister used the recycle bin and I also explained what it was

  • Today I began to realize how much more our family could be recycling.

  • Today I noted how dirty our recyclables are and started to rinse out the empty containers

  • I realized how many single use plastics I go through in a day

    Specifically snacks and drink containers
  • Today a learned and researched additional things I can recycle such as light bulbs and crayons.

  • Family started to participate a lot more

  • Took cans and bottles to dump to claim CRV

Today to empty the recycle bin I decided to make some extra money and take all of the weeks cans and bottles to claim the deposit you put on them when buying.
  • First trash day after experiment

Today the results were in and out number of trash bags for the week was recorded
  • We agreed that the implemented rules should stay

Not only did the surplus in recalables reduce our carbon footprint but they saved us money as excess bags cost more.
