The Freedmen's Bureau was created by the U.S. Congress on March 3, 1865. The primary purpose of it was to help freedmen obtain bare essentials food, shelter, etc. The Freedmen's Bureau also helped poor whites get bare essentials.

General Lee surrendered to Grant at Appoattox courthouse in Virginia. They then signed a treaty. The Civil War ended on that day.

On April 14, 1865, Abraham Lincoln went to the Fords theater with his wife. John Wilkes Booth, a person very angry about the south losing the Civil War, entered his theater box. When he entered the theater box, a loud part of the play happened. He then shot Abraham Lincoln in the back of the head, Lincoln was then carried somewhere near the theater. He died the following morning.

It was ratified on December 6, 1865. The 13th amendment abolished slavery in the United States. -
The 14th Amendment was approved by the U.S. Congress on June 13, 1866. It was ratified on July 9, 1868. It made all persons born or naturalized in the U.S.- including freedmen- citizens of the country.

He was a black republican. Black republicans were a target of the K.K.K, Henry was one of the principle targets. He served as a delegate to the constitutional convention in 1867 and was elected to the Georgia legislature in July 1868.

The 15th Amendment was passed by the U.S. on February 26, 1869. It was ratified on February 3, 1870. It stated that the rights of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.

Georgia was readmitted to the Union in 1868. But it was expelled in 1869 because it refused to ratify Amendment 15 of the U. S. Constitution. This amendment made it illegal to deny the right to vote not he basis of race. Georgia ratified the amendment in 1870 and was permanently readmitted to the Union on July 15.

This presidential election was intensly fought, and had an intensly high controversial outcome. The candidate who clearly won the popular vote was denied victory. After being accused of fraud, Rutherford B. Hayes was elected president, and was the most disputed American election, until 2000.
