End of the Civil War (Appomattox)
The Amercian Civil War is also known as the War between the states. The Civil War was fought from 1861 to 1865. It ended when the Confederate Army surrendered to the Union at Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1861. -

The 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was Ratified on July 9, 1868. This Amendment gave citizenship and equal rights to everyone born in the U.S. except for Native Amercians. It also states that state and local govenrments can not deprive anyone of their life, liberty, or property without certain steps being taken. -
