President at the time Abraham Lincoln, put his signature on a bill making the Bureau of Refugees a Freedmen also Abandoned Lands. The Freedmen's Bureau was born with people concerned about slaves in which were free. The people concerned for the slaves were abolitionists. -

Reconstruction of Georgia Timeline
The time period after the Civil War when the South was trying to rebuild the damage that had been done to its land during the war. They had also lost their slaves comepletely. Having slaves were outlawed. -
End of the Civil War (Appomattox)
When the Confederates returned home bussiness, small stores, and houses, and crops were destroyed.Owners of bussinesses stoped all business. Railroads were damaged, destroyed. The South became a social wreck. -
Abraham Lincoln Assassinated
An actor of the play Lincoln was watching by the name of John Wilkes Booth was the man who shot him. Booth was against Lincoln and his ideas (confederacy). Booth came up behind Lincoln and shot him in the back of the head at 10;15 pm then he went to help and died the next morning at 7;22 am. -
13th Amendment Ratified
This document ofically ended slavery for the South. This came ten mothths after the civil war.The congress decided whether or not to include restrictions to try to keep discrimination happening against all of the blacks -
14th Amendment Ratified
This amendment gave citizenship to anyone who was born or naturalized in the United States. This also included former slaves. The slaves that were recently released out of slavery after the 13th amendment because of the Civil War. -
15th amendment ratified
Gave the ability for black men to be able to have the right to vote. They said by stating that the rights to all citizens of the U.S for them to be able to vote should not be stopped or not allowed next to the the whole United States including every state and any kind of race, color, or if they have recently served as slaves. -
Georgia Readmitted to the Union
Georgia was readmitted to the union twice! First time it was readmitted was in 1868. Then agin in 1870. The Georgia legislature did not want the black people / former slaves. So because of that they reimposed their miliyary. -
Henry McNeal Turner elected to Senate
He defended "blacks" rights. He was among the first group of Reconstruction era african American elected officals. He was a african Methodist Episcopal minister and later on he was Bishop. -
Election of Rutherford B. Hayes
He oversaw the end of reconstruction. He was the 19th president! Also he was a reformer who began efforts that led civil service reform and attempted, and it was unsuccessful.
