    Black Codes
    These were laws that aplied to the freed African American slaves. Some made it illeagel for them to own or remt farms and made it easy for white people to take advantage of them. They also let them be arrested or fined.

    This allowed the government get involved with state affairs so they could protect african americans. Also it gave African Americans citizenship.
  • Reconstruction Acts

    Reconstruction Acts
    The first act was that the 10 Confederate states that did not ratify the Fourteenth Amendment had to make new governments. These states were divided into military districts. The second act let the army register voters in the districts and to organize constitutional conventions.
