13th Amendment

In January of 1865, the 13th Amendment was ratified, which abolished slavery. Although slaves were given freedom, they still faced many difficulties, one of which would later be known as the KKK.

Civil Rights Act

Mar 1, 1875

Civil rights activist fought for the same equalities as white people in public places. This act was found unconstitutional by Congress.
