    Abraham Lincoln After giving a speech in which he proclaimed that he could see an america in which former enslaved and blacks can vote. This speech however enraged actor John Wilkes Booth stating "this would be the last speech he would give". The result was his assassination at Ford's theater.

    The 13th Amendment Ratified
    The 13th Amendment would see the Establishment of slavery. This would free 3.5 millions however didn't grant full citizenship rights.

    Passed in April 1866 it was to define that everyone born in the U.S.A is an american citizen protecting them equally under the law. This was to ensure protection to people of all race.

    upon growing racial tensions a riot broke out in Memphis. The actions of this riot was incredibly racial based, as groups of armed individuals went around looking African-Americans to kill this riot would last 2 days and see 47 deaths in total. This would being the Freemen's Bureau investigation upon such actions and behaviors.

    As the civil war was coming to an end it became apparent that the government would have to oversee the reconstruction of the nation. They started with those disenfranchised such as the poor and formerly enslaved.

    Following the Memphis race riots. 150 African Americans would die and see the implanting of black code as well as prevent African Americans to vote.

    To ensure total and completely stability over the former confederacy this act gave supreme power to the military commanders of the five districts.

    This act for all intensive purpose was to allow for the military districts and it's U.S. citizens to vote in the upcoming election

    At the end of the civil war and with rising racial tensions, with the republicans back in congress they began their plans for reconstruction. This amendment would see all people born in the U.S a citizen and see equal protection in the eyes of the law.

    In seeing the U.S. over majority elect former general Grant into office would see him take a more aggressive out look on the former Confederacy. However Grant was an army and not a politician which would see most of his actions and steps and of course policies led to nothing.

    This act was the government's response to the blacks in making any form of discrimination to stop people of color from using public places, transportation and restaurants illegal. However in response what would follow is even worse discrimination by such establishments would have color only areas and would lead to the civil rights movement.
