A man named John Booth killed Lincoln thus preventing him from enacting his plan for the reconstruction;The 10 Percent Plan. -
Civil Rights Act of 1866
Gave the freed slaves the right of citizenship and the protection of their natural and amendated rights. -
14th Amendment
The amendment that says that anybody born on US soil is a citizen and all citizens deserve equal rights at a state level. -
The Reconstruction Acts of 1867
This divided the south into military districts with soldiers there to enforce the laws and increased requirement for states to rejoin the union; they needed to ratify the 14th amendment and allow equal voting.
