    Black Codes
    The Black codes are laws that were designed to help control all the newly freed Africian Americians. These laws made it easy for Whites to take advantage of the Africians. The codes were mae to help, but if an Africian Americian did not have a job they could be arrested or fined. Some of the laws made it illegal for them to rent or own farms. Overall, the Black Codes were far beter than slavery.
  • Civil Rights Act of 1866

    Civil Rights Act of 1866
    This act gave the Freedman's Bureau new powers.The freedman's Nureau could now have special courts for persons that violating Africian Americians rights. White Southerners could now be accused. This act granted Africian Americians citizenship. The federal govertment could now get involved with state affairs to protect them.

    Reconstruction Acts
    Thes acts divided the 10 defiant states into 5 military districts.Each state had to submit a new state constitution to Congress. Many White Southners decided not to take parts in these acts. The president becomes the cheif of the military at this time. The south and its society was then rebuilt.
  • 14th Amedment

    14th Amedment
    The 14th Amendment stated that, "All persons born or naturalized in the US, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the US and the state wherein they reside". This basically said that no citizenship could be taken away from anyone. This also ment that all adult males could vote. If not the state could lose representation in their Congress.The amendment also said the no state could take a persons life, liberty, or property without due process of law.

    15th Amendment
    The 15th amendment stated that state and federal govertments could not deny the right to any male citizen because of race, color, or previous condition servitude. So, now Africian men can vote. Africians now had the power to protect themselves. They now didn't get unfair treatment from the white. The 15th amendment helped with voting issues.
