    The Freedman's Bureau
    An organization built to help the newly freed slaves. Three things the bureau helped the slaves were: relief work providing food,education support and medical aid;negotiated labor contracts;legalized marriages between ex-slaves that were separated, and reuniting families and relatives.

    Lincoln was assassinated by John Wicks booth a confederate sympathizer. Andrew Johnson became president after the assassination.

    It protected ex-slaves from the black codes and vagrancy laws. It gave them rights as U.S citizens. The ex-slaves were now considered equal to man.

    Andrew Johnson's Impeachment trail
    He removed Edwin Stanton, the secretary of war and member of his cabinet which is in violation of the law "Tenure of Office Act". They needed on more vote to make a 2/3 majority to impeach the President. The did a final vote 10 days later and Johnson was again acquitted which ended the Impeachment of Johnson.

    Many of people in his administration were criminals who stole from the government.Grant pushed for the passage of the 15 Amendment. He also passed a bill to allow those from African decent to become U.S citizens.

    The Amendment protects the voting rights of all citizens regardless of race or color of their skin. The amendment also protected former slaves. This was great as others other than whites could vote but some states found ways around the amendment.

    President Rutherford B. Hayes removed federal troops from the south and state governments took over.Many of the changes to equal rights were immediately reversed. With the removal of federal troops in the south caused the end of the Reconstruction.
