The Freedmen´s Bureau
The freedmen´s bureau was a federal agency established on March 3, 1865 just before the civil war ended.

President Lincoln is Assassinated
President Lincoln was assassinated on April 14, 1865 by John Wilkes Booth. He was the first president of the United States to be assassinated. When the play reached a point where there was a big joke and the audience laughed loudly, John Wilkes Booth entered president Lincoln´s box and shot him in the back of his head. -
The 13th Amendment is passed
The 13th Amendment made slavery illegal in the United States. It was adopted as part of the Constitution on December 6,1865. The thirteenth Amendment was presented to the states for ratification on February 15, 1865 -

Reconstruction ends
The Reconstruction Act officially ended under the presidency of Rutherford B. Hayes in 1877. He removed the federal troops from the South and the state governments took over;however, most of the changes to equal rights were immediately reversed.
