His presidency was filled with scandals because Many of the people in his administration were crooks who stole from the government. He also helped establish the law for everyone to vote regardless of race. -

Reconstruction Ends
the south was destroyed: farms, plantations, and crops were destroyed. they started the reconstruction of the south and it lasted from 1865 to 1877. reconstruction ended when Rutherford B. Hayes removed troops from the south and the state governments took over.
