    The significance of this amendment gave people in America(except women for some reason) the right to vote without discrimination. This allowed any foreigner in America, especially African Americans, to vote.

    In the end, the south promised Hayes could become president if everything the north was doing to prevent slavery left their land, including the military. It was the Compromise of 1877. That brought everything back to square one.
