Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
The first book I remember being read to me was Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin. I believe that being read to as a child is really the beginning of learning to read. This introduced me to the concept of reading as a whole as well as new vocabulary and different concepts I hadn't heard of before. -
Learning to read
In first grade I began to learn to read. I picked up on reading pretty quickly and I loved it. I read every book in the Rainbow Magic series and I was completely hooked. -
The STAR Program
Around this time we were introduced to the Student Achievement in Reading (STAR) program that was basically meant to keep track of what grade level we were reading at and whether we were where we needed to be. -

STAR Assessment
In fifth grade we needed to take the STAR test which was again to ensure that we were where we needed to be reading wise. This was important because I was reading at a college level according to them and whether that was accurate or not it really built my confidence to keep reading and keep moving up in advancement with the books I was reading. -
Advancing
At this point I was reading multiple books in a day because I loved it and I wasn't allowed to have a phone yet so it was the only thing entertaining me. -
Series of Unfortunate Events
I loved this series because it was a little harder to read and it felt like a grown up book to me at the time -
Wonder
