Schafer entered the Royal Conservatory of Music and the University of Toronto in 1952 -
First Book
Schafer wrote and published his first book entitled "Ezra Pound and Music". This was just the beginning of his writing career, he wrote many books and music and is considered one of the great contirbutors in musical knowledge. -
Schizophonia
Schafer made the word which means the splitting of an original sound and its electroacoustic reproduction. -
String Quartet No. 1
Written from April to May of 1970. This won the 1980 Prix International Arthur-Honegger. -
Quartet no.2 Waves
This piece was composed from January to Ocober of 1976. It was made to show the rhythm of the breaking and backwash of waves on the coasts of Canada. He won the first Jules Léger Prize in 1978. The prize was made to get Canadian composers to write chamber music and to build the Canadian music scene. -
The Crown of Ariadne

The city the guy and girl lives in sends children and women to a labyrinth to be sacrifices for the minotaur. BUT, this time the guy kills the minotaur, the girl falls in love with the guy and the guy finds someone else to be with. AND in the end, the girl finds the god Bacchus and falls in love with. -
Glenn Gould Prize
An international award given to a persons contribution to music. He was the first to receave this prize back in 1987. -
Walter Carson Prize
Schafer won the Walter Carson Prize in Ottawa. It was given to him by the Canada Council For Arts, one of the top honours for lifetime achievement by a Canadian Artist -
Governor General's Performing Arts Award
Schafer received the Governor General's Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement -
Juno Award
Won a Juno award as well as in 1980, 1991, 1993, and 2004. -
