In 1856 Nikola Tesla was born in Croatia. -
Guglielmo Marconi's birth
On April 25th, the great mind that help mold the radio that we know and use today was born. Guglielmo Marconi was born in Bologna, Italy to a very wealthy family. He would grow up to be one of the most famous inventors that made advancements to the radio. -

Guglielmo Marconi builds the first successful wireless telegraphy system based on radio transmissions. Its application was demonstrated in marine and military communications. Marconi was later awarded a patent for the invention of radio by the US Patent Office. -

Transistor radios
Chrysler and Philco created the first all transistor car radio which made the system a lot smaller and got rid of bulky tubing. -
8 track tapes
The invention of the 8 track tape made for easier listening. These cartridges were offered in all sports cars, thunder birds, and mustangs by Ford Motor Company. It was more compact and convenient and it increased mobility. -
Cassette tapes
In 1968 Phillips created the car cassette player, this coupled with the rising popularity of mix-tapes allowed for people to have more freedom choosing the music they listened to in the car. -
stereo is born
Becker came out with Europa. This was the first commercialized in-car stereo that had its tuner amplified to 2 channels instead of one. -
Bose breaks the market
Bose teamed up with Delco to create the first designer stereo car radio. This jolted the idea of stereo into every car and pushed the car radio into the new age. -
Cds hit the scene
CDs made their appearance in Pioneers CDX-1, this faster, smoother, and more lightweight mode of music playing made car listening even simpler. -
The arrival of bluetooth
In 2000 Chrysler began releasing cars with bluetooth connections. At this point in time they were trailblazers in the auto industry and would remain the only company with bluetooth for years to come. -
