in 1895 the first radio system was invented. it was invented by italian inventor Gugliemo Marconi at the age of 21. he called it the "wireless telegraph" -

in 1922 a 10 minute long commercial was aired. the commercial was aired by a station called WEAF. Producer John McDonough tells us that behind that ad and the birth of commercial radio was the Bell Telephone Company. -

in 1930, americas economy collapsed. radio provided an excape from this. it distracted people from their problems at this time. -
war of the worlds
"war of the worlds" was a halloween radio episode in 1938. it became famous for causeing mass panic as people did not know it was scripted. the program aired without commercials adding to the realism.
