How radio came to be
Marconi was italian inventor who recived credit for inventing the first radio. Rumors have that he had good public relations but was not the first inventor. -
Audion Tube
Lee De Forest invented the audion tube. The audion tube had the ability to amplify signals. There was rumors that a candian inventor named Reginald Fessanden actaully created the audion tube. -
Radio helps the Titanic
The marine industry bought radios and placed them upon ships so they could keep in touch with land. When the titanic sunk it radio land and was able to get help. -
First Radio Station
The first raio station was invented by Frank conrad. It was named 8KX and was later changed to KDKA. -
Uncle Charlie
Uncle Charlie was a term use to refer tp personal radio stations. At this time anybody with the money fo eqiupment could own a radio station. -

In 1922 the was the first raido broadcasted advistisment. The radio station was called WEAF and the advirstisment was 10 mintues long. -
FRC
There was to many personal radio stations, so the goverment established the FRC. The FRC orginzed the licensing of transmiters and assinged radio stations frequncies and call letters. -

Call letters were used to find stations. W is east of the mississppi river and E is west. -

whn the tv was finally invited people enjoyed it an were acctractred to it. As Tv's popularity grew radios dropped.
