    An Italian inventor by the name of Marconiis accredited for sending and receiving the very first radio signal. He either really did invent this himself or he was just really good at Public Relations and is now taking credit for inventing the radio.

    it was created by Lee De Forest. This piece was a vcauum tube that amplified signals. It could have possibly been Regnald Fessenden who actually invented it but he isn't the one who is given redit for it.

    Thanks to the Radio the passengers twere saved from the sinking of the Titanic because people on land were able to know that they were in an accident. Otherwise they all would have died and just gone missing because there would have been no contact with them at sea.

    Radio station 8XK began but then it wash changed to KDKA. It was invented by Frank Conard and this station is still around today and broadcats from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

    Radio stations make money from advertising and in 1922 the first cmmercial was aired . It was 10 minutes long and was aired by WEAF. It was more of a broadcast though.

    The FRC, which stands for Federal Radio Comission was established n 1927. It was used to organized the licensing of transmitters. It also assigned the call letter and power lmits. ACall etters were assigned so no radio station would get theirs mixed up and have the same one. For example, in call letters, the K means that the radio station is West of the Mississippi River. While the W means that the station is located east of the Mississippi River,
  • Radio's Demise

    Radio's Demise
    When TV came to people's living rooms, then that bumped down the radio demand. Radio was an all time low at this point because they couldn't even transfer their shows on to TV if the character voices didn't match what people heard on the radio. So, that was big failure because people didn't like this just like "books vs movies" in today's world. Radio stations lost money even because, advertisers were moving on to TV where people could actually see thier product. TV almost ended the radio!

    The "Golden Era"

    Thi is when Radio was at its highest all time booming service! Because the U.S. was in a war and had just gotten through the Great Depression, everyone wanted to be kept up to date with what was going on around them. It basically provided an escape for people when they got home from long days of work. It served as a distraction from their boring mundane stressful lives. Not only that, but it was family friendly and anybody could watch it together. Some popular shows included Superman.

    They started to play music in the FM because it would fill a void for people. Since before they only had 3 ways to be able to listen to music. They could listen to jukeboxes or records or live concerts. So the radio provided music to their ears in an easier way.

    Recently, music is easily streamed anywhere and from any device. For example, Youtube, Spotify and Pandora. back in the mid 00's peple used Limewire and Bearshare to download music illegally onto their iPods. Although all of this exists, Radio is here to stay because it provides people with a sense of locality and gives them the news and weather forecast in their cars for example.
