    Lee de Forest invents Audion Tune in 1906. The Audion Tune was an electronic amplifying vacuum tube. The Audion Tune became ver successful since it is a basic and important unit in every electronic device.

    Frank Conrad was the first person to radio broadcast on December 24, 1920. The broadcast was held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This radio still broadcasts today on A.M. radio.

    The radio was overpopulated with local people wanting to create a radio broadcast station.This became a big issue since the radio line was filled with so many local stations. In 1927 the Federal Radio Commission was established to set rules to become a radio broadcasting station.

    In order to listen to a specific station there needed to be a way to find that station. In 1927 call letter were created. A.M. and F.M. radio stations helped people find the radio station they wanted to listen to.

    In the middle of the Great Depression radio helped people escape from financial problems. The radio lightened people up and took weight off their shoulders. People would save their money up to buy a radio rather than fixing anything else that needed to be fixed.

    In the 1930-1940's radio was very big. The radio offered many things like stories,comedy, and dramas. Since radio offered these great things this brought families together and closer. When the radio came on the whole family would sit together and listen to the radio.

    While the radio was big, television came out and hit big. This sadly put radio out of style. Less people were listening to the radio and more people were watching television.

    In 1943, while World War 2 was going on the radio helped communicate with military bases. Just like in the Great Depression it helped people with their happiness and worries. Radio helped many people with their daily lives just by lifting up their spirits.

    Radio is still somewhat big now. Radio has competition still with television,spotify,pandora,etc. It's easier to hear music with those music apps because you can listen to music you like whenever. People still love and listen to radio now.
