First radio was made, however many speculate that it was created before this. Although it didn't initially transmit a voice, it still could relay a message which defined radios back then. -
Improving frequencies
With the creation of the audion tube, the transmission distance was increased for radios. With this invention, long-distance calls can now be made. -
Saving Lives
Although not very advanced, the radio saved many Titanic victims since there was no other way to communicate at sea. -
Radio Stations
First official radio station created. Started as the 8XK but later changed into KDKA. Would basically put a phonograph near the microphone to broadcast music. -
Making Some Money
By airing advertisments, radio stations were able to make more money then ever before. The payment isn't all at once but for everytime it aires. -
Popularity increase
During The Great Depression, people were hurting for money. Since radios were cheap and affordable, people mainly used that for entertainment. This caused the start of many popular radio shows. -
FRC
Because there weren't many stations, when someone would make their own radio station, you might hear someone elses instead. This cause the creation of the FRC which would organize the liscensing of transmitters and assign frequencies for people. -
Rise Of The Television
Around the 30's, T.V started to gain in popularity leaving radio in the dust. Radio shows started leaving since the radio was losing money. -
Upgrade into the future
Replacing old models with new digital models, the quality of radios increased with less static and clearer sounds. This however caused EVERYONE to buy a new radio. -
Music saves the day
With T.V leading in entertainment, the radio was slowly dying out. However music started being play more, with this music can be heard anywhere.
