Radios turned to the recording industry after kicked out of advertising. They had a good relationship and made lots of money from broadcasting. A lot of artists were heard and became famous. -
Marconi
Was an italian inventor. Sent and recieved the first radio signal in 1895. People say he might not be the first to invent the radio. -
Audion tube
Lee De Forest created the audion tube. It was a vacuum tube that amplified signals. Its believed a conadian inventor Reginald Fessended actually camr up with the idea. -
Titanic
Radio had an impact on the Titanic because since theres no signal in the ocean, the radio let the Titanic send messages to land. Since the Titanic hit the ice berg, they saved a lot of lives from the radio. The radio had a great jump in radio sells afterwards. -
Radios affect on electronics
After everyone notices the radio, it made them see electronics like no other. They said it was to be the next step in electronics. Since it was wireless, it changed the way they thought of electronics. -
Radio stations
first station was named 8XK later renamed KDKA. Frank Conrad invented the station. Its still a station today broadcasting out of ptiisburg, pennsylvania. -
Uncle Charlie
Uncle charlie means there are personal radio stations at home who air. Uncle charlie had conflict with other radio stations because there radio signal mixed with another radio station. Advertisers got furious because of the interference. -
Radios impact on sports
Radio in the 1920's did a lot of shows on the air, but had an impact on sports aswell. Sports would be recordedon newspaper, books, and magazines. So putting sports on the radio made a big impact for the radio industry. -

Radios was the internet of that era, it really brought familys togther to listen to whats going on. It could be sports to music, it really didnt matter. It beat waiting for the newspaper. -
The dawn of advertising
Radio stations make money off of advertisements. WEAF aired the first commercial on the air. FRC then came up because uncle charlies were getting to popular. -
Call letters
There needed to be call letters for radio stations. They were two W and K. W means East of the mississippi river, K is west of the mississippi river. -
Golden Era (Radio)
Golden Era was around the 30's and 40's, it was in the middle of the great depression. People were hunting for money at the time. Radios provided an escape for people. -
Radios changes to music
Around the 1930's, tv took over and radio doesnt know what to do to make money. So they changed to music to make money. It was a good idea because you coiuld only listen to music on records and restraunts. -
Famous shows of golden era
Famous shows were amos n andy, gunsmoke, the shadow, our miss brooks, superman, Dick Tracey, little orphan Annie, and $64 question. These shows had a big impact on radio. $64 qustion turned into "want to be a millionare". -
Radios demise
Tv makes appeares and adverising ship jumped there. Radio then lost money because advertising was there money maker. Tv will do to radio what the car did to the horse.
