    Black Codes
    These black codes were desinghed to help the freed African Americans. With these laws whites could take advantage of them. Law enforcers could arrest African Americans who had no job. The black codes was a little better than slavery.
  • Civil Rights Act of 1866

    Civil Rights Act of 1866
    This law gave federal goverment power to protect African Americans rights. This act of rights gave African Americans citizenship. This relates to the race because it let them have more freedom.
  • Reconstruction Acts I/II

    Reconstruction Acts I/II
    The act divided the 10 defient states into 5 military districs. This involves the race because it helped them be more like citizens.
  • 14th Amendment

    14th Amendment
    This guaratened that citizenship could not be taken away in a law. This also stated that everyone is entitled to equal protection of laws. Increasing vilonce in the south convinced the republicans that it was neccessary to use an amendment. This envolves the race because it gave them more freedom.
  • 15th Amendment

    15th Amendment
    This gave the black the right to vote. It also said there vote can't be denied.
