The blacks were in the Civil War for more that just shooting guns. They were also nurses, cooks, and blacksmiths.

    The Emancipation Proclimation was issued by the president at the time, Abraham Lincoln. This amazingly well known documant states that all of the slaves in America were, officially freed. Sadly, most slaves were not freed until some time after the Civil War.

    The 13th Amendment overall abolished slavery in the United States. It was ratified December 6th 1865 and was passed by the Senate on April 8, 1864.

    Martin Luther King Jr's "I Have a Dream Speech" was delivered on August 28 1963 to a large amount of rights marchers in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. It stated that King believed that he saw a future of equality among all races instead of just the typical white man being superior. It also said that he believed that racism should be abolished.

This started when many African American people were being harmed and murdered at the hands of police officers. From then on, social media has been using the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter and vandalism on walls saying the same thing. After so long, the hashtag #AllLivesMatter appeared.
