Queen victoria was born at Kensington Palace in London. Her father was Prince Edward, The Duke of Kent and strathearn, her mother was Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saaldfeld. Queen Victorias life was signifigant because she would later become the queen of Great Britian and Ireland and the Empress of India. (Bussey Pg 61) -
Brazil becomes nominally independant of Portugal
In 1789 Brazils first rebellion against Portugal took place. It went well, considering they executed Portugals leader. After this, the wars continued and the battles begun to get worse and worse until Portugal and Brazil were in a war, to see if Brazil can gain independance from Portugal. In May of 1822 Brazil gained independance from Portugal and about 700,000 slaves were freed.(Boundless World History) -
First Railway (stockton to darlignton)
The Stockton to Darligton railway also known as the S&DR was a railway company that operated in North-East England from 1825 to 1863. This was the worlds first public railay to use steam locomotives, its first line connected colleries neaar shildon with stockton-on-trees and darlington, and was offically opened on september 27, 1825. Polish rebellion against Russia defeated
The polish rebellion against Russia was an armed rebellion in the heartland of partitioned Poland against the Russian empire. The uprising was eventually crushed by a numerically superior imperial Russian army led by Ivan Paskevich. THhe countries continues to fight until Russia concured Poland in 1830. (Britannica) -
Death of Alexander Puskin
Puskin started playing court to Natalya in 1835, and it came to head when he recieved a letter telling him he was elected to "the most serene order of Cuckolds". Knowing this, he challanged their order. Luckily the duel was pushed off by complex negotiations from D'Anthes' his adoptive father. The fight took place on the afternoon of january 27 1837 and Puskin was killed. This is signifigant because after his death was viewed as a threat to public order and asorce of dangerous ideas(Britannica) -
Young Princess becomes a queen
Princess Victoria was crowned queen on June 20th 1837. She became queen of England and Ireland. She later becomes the second longest reigning British monarch. Her monarchy was significant because during her reign England saw a great cultural expansion, advances i industry, science and communications, and the building of railways and the London Underground. The Bedchamber Crisis
Whig politician lord Melbourne decicded to resign as Prime minester of the United Kingdom.He decided to resign after the a government bill passed by only five votesHouse of Commons.That caused young queen Victoria. She asked the Duke of Wellington who was a former Tory prime minester to form a new type of government, but he said no.She then asked Robert peel to form a government. .This is important because they decided to change the government prior to Melbourne resigning. -
Upper and Lower Canada Re-united
The British goverment sent lord Durham to study the political situation the british and north colonies. He recomended that the two provinces to be united. That is when the Act of Union occurredon July 23, 1840. that was the main reason for the instability that resigned in Canada. That is why it is signifigant.(canadian encylopedia) -
Victoria marries Prince Albert
Their marriage was the first marriage of a reigning English queen since Bloody Mary about 300 years before. Queen Victoria describes her day a as “the happiest day of her life.” She then became pregnant within a couple months. They would later have 9 children. It’s significant because Albert proved himself as an admirable consort and made a wrong contribution to British life.(history today) -
Massachusetts child Enployment Laws
Massachusetts became the first state to pass laws limiting how many hours a cild laboror could be forced to work. The new laws limited a child under the age of twelve's workday to a maximum of twelve hours. this was very important because many children werent getting the nutrition they needed from working so much in bad conditions.(mass government) -
Albert dies
Prince Albert was diagnosed with typhoid fever in the summer of 1859. He was sick two years before his death. He died leader and 1861 at the age of 42. This was significant because Queen Elizabeth would be impacted greatly by the death of her husband.(Britannica) -
Victoria and Albert start a Royal family
Queen Victoria met her first cousin, Albert a few days after her 17th birthday. They later got married and started thinking about starting there own royal family. Queen Victoria had got some unexpected news that she would be having her first baby girl, although she she hated being pregnant and the thought of kids, her and Prince Albert later had seven others. Vicroria becomes empress of India
This title was a gesture to link the monarchy with an empire further with him bind India more closely closely to Britain. Queen Victorias reign lasted from 1 May 18, 76 to January 22, 1901, 24 years eight months in three weeks. This was significant because it strengthened connections with Britain into other countries. As well as a celebration of their majesties 50 years on the throne, the Golden Jubilee has been an opportunity for the queen to express your thanks to people. Both personally and officially, for their support and loyalty over her reign. Diamond Jubilee
Queen Victoria celebrated 60 years on the throne in 1897. Celebration to honor the grand occasion, was the first diamond Jubilee, Showcased the queens role as “mother” of the British Empire and it’s dominions including Canada. Queen Victorias Death
Queen Victoria died on January 22, 1901, at the age of 81. Her son, the future king Edward VII and her eldest grandson Emporer Wilham II of germany, were both at her bedside. Her death was of natural cause and she she lived a long life for people of her time. This was signifigant becuase she was such a great ruler and made a major impact on her country and she wasin reign for so long.(history channel)
