    In 1946 in association with Kings Records Race Records was created a primary African American record label.

    In 1948 Columbia records had released the first LP which had 20 mins of sound on each side of the record. This changed how people listen to music completely.
  • Jerry Lee Lewis debut

    In late 1949 Jerry Lee Lewis who was 14 had made his debut at a Fords dealership in Louisiana.
  • RCA debuts 45 rpm single

    In early 1949 RCA records had released a device that was 7 inches and fit about 1 song per side of the track.
  • Les Paul Mocking Bird Hill

    Les Paul or Lester William Polsfuss was an American Jazz musician and guitarist. In 1951 he released the song Mocking Bird Hill with Mary Ford
  • Catcher in the Rye published

    J. D. Salinger publishes The Catcher in the Rye. The novel's main character, Holden Caulfield, will become a popular icon for disillusioned teens seeking to rebel against a society full of "phonies." This would inspire the murder of John Lennon.
