    The crisis is between feeling secure (trust) in others or growing to face the world with anxiety (mistrust) and fearing others.
  • Industry vs Inferiority

    Industry vs Inferiority
    Every time Anne (age 8) makes a good grade on her math test, her mother hangs it up on the fridge. Anne notices she has many tests up there, and takes pride in it.
    In Erikson's Fourth stage, Industry vs Inferiority,
    The crisis is between becoming confident in your own abilities (industry) and feeling incapable (inferior) of your ability to do anything.
  • Intimacy vs Isolation

    Intimacy vs Isolation
    Anne (age 23) made the decision after seeing her friends get their hearts broken by boys multiple times, to never date anyone out of fear the same thing will happen to her.
    In Erikson's Sixth Stage, Intimacy vs Isolation,
    The crisis is between allowing yourself to open up to another individual who is special to you (intimacy) and refusing to commit to another person and keeping to yourself (isolation).
