Princess Leia's parents set rules and boundaries for her to follow for her own safety, and to guide her to fulfill her calling. In Erikson's fourth stage, industry versus inferiority, the crisis would be not knowing one's worth and lacking a sense of belonging or purpose. Princess Leia in the other hand was brought up with love. She knew her worth, and would fight for what she believed in. -
A calling: Intimacy versus Isolation
Princess Leia chose a different path away from being a jedi, and focused on the rebellion. This path made opened an opportunity for her to fall in love, marry, and become a mother. In Erikson's sixth stage of intimacy versus isolation, the crisis is that Princess Leila was more than a wife or a mother, she was dedicated to a bigger cause, and that was to the rebellion. The family slowly drifted apart.
