    Industry vs. Inferiority
    Albert Einstein begins private education. His father gifts him a compass which encourages his creativeness. He begins asking questions about the world. He parents encourage him in developing as a whole person, continued private lessons outside of school and he learns to play the violin.
    In this stage, according to Erikson, is when people begin to ask question and explore the world. Encouragement by parents is crucial in furthering good development, otherwise development could be hindered.
  • Identity vs. Role Confusion

    Identity vs. Role Confusion
    Albert began to establish his own identity by skipping his own Bar-Mitzvah. He began to learn philosophy, mathematics, and science. He would renounce his German citizenship with the support of his father and began college for mathematics and physics.
    In this stage, according to Erikson, this is when people begin to establish their personal identities. People follow role models and can greatly be affected by the reactions of the parents. Negative reactions could lead to role confusion.
  • Intimacy vs. Isolation

    Intimacy vs. Isolation
    In college, Albert would meet his future wife Mileva Marić. After sharing a mutual love of science, they would get married on January 6th 1903. They would proceed to have children but would later get divorced due to Alberts infidelity.
    In this stage, according to Erikson, long term intimate relationship form during this time. These relationship are crucial to prevent the feeling of isolation.
