12-19 Years Old
Now a teenager in high school, Zola is trying to figure out who she is. Her parents moved her to a new school where she doesn't know anyone, and she feels peer pressure to skip classes to make new friends. She does not know how else to impress classmates enough to acquaint themselves with her. She is facing Erikson's stage of development, identity vs confusion. It is up to her now whether she will do what it takes to blend in or stand tall no matter how different she is. -
20- 25 Years Old
Zola meets a guy named David in her Drama class at the community college and has a crush on him. A few months after she befriends him, he asks her on a date. She worries it might risk their friendship, but she also wants to date him. Erikson's model states that in this time, new adults experience intimacy vs isolation. In Zola's case, she is opening the doors to building a closer relationship with David.
