The main purpose of NATO was to Keep existing number countries safe and to protect from external offensives and invasions . NATO played several roles along its life and had successful accomplishments . -

Laotion civil war is fighting between Communist and Royal Lao government. It is also called Secret war. Lao got independent from France and became constitutional monarchy. North Vietnam trail were in the Laos, so US help the Royal Lao government not to spread the communist. Many Laotion were killed.US allowd to help Lao refugee camps in Thailand. -
Formation of SEATO ( Southeast Asia Treaty Organization )
SEATO was established and signed on 8, September 1954 by eight Southeast Asia Countries. Its purpose was to block or contain further spread of Communists that have already in Southeast Asia; however, it was just a failure pursue. -
Warsaw Pact
The Soviet Union and other seven Europe countries which include Poland, Albania, Romania, Hungary, East Germany, Czechoslovakia and Bulgaria were signed the Warsaw Pact. The trety was signed in Warsaw. This treaty is to make Germany to become the membership of NATO. Germany became the member of NATO but Warsaw pact was remained until 1991. -

Yom Kippur War was also one of the Middle East Conflict,and it was also known as 1973 Arab–Israeli War and the Fourth Arab–Israeli War, lasted only 19. On the one side, Arab States was led by Egypt and Syria and they lunched surprise attack on Yom Kippur , in Judaism ; on the other side, Israel was fighting against Arab States.
