Printing Press
- Printing press was created by a German inventor, Johannes Gutenberg. This allowed the propagandist to quickly produce mass amounts of posters, papers, and books to persuade someone without the risk of oral communication.

The radio allowed propaganda to reach a large amount of people in a small amount of time orally. -
WW1
British and German troops battled it out for five grueling weeks. British suffered over 200,000 killed or wounded. England’s ‘Morning Post’ stated that ‘all was going well in the front, and no need to worry about the boys fighting’. -
Fed up
Not only did Germans and British use propaganda, America jumped right on the bandwagon, instilling hatred for Germans and their culture to it’s audience. They also created propaganda films such as To Hell with the Kaiser and The Kaiser, the Beast of Berlin. -
Both sides guilty
It took a lot of shady propaganda to recruit soldiers on both sides so neither would fall into a political upheaval. -
The Guradians
Germans convey that they are the good guys, the guardian, the ones who everybody should join. They convey this by subliminal messages, and more propaganda. -
Hitlers speech
Hitler gave a speech to the SS and SA in order to gain more support in his movement. The speech used all tools of propaganda to ensure his audience would be lured in. He used testimonial to make them feel like they were special, he used card-stacking to give false information to the public, he not only used these tools, he also put his rhetoric skills into play, using logos, pathos, and ethos. -
Children brainwashed
The Nazis would go to every length to ensure the safety of the German community from the Jews. German students read books in schools to teach children how to identify Jews and how bad they are. -
Television
The television has impacted propaganda the most over the years, having the ability to visually communicate to a mass amount of people, over long distances. -
Ten Commandments of Propaganda
‘Ten Commandments of Propaganda’ was produced by Americans. This identified and dissected the different components of propaganda. Americans were in hopes that their new scientific findings would reveal the truth of the Nazi party. -
Jews
Germans used visuals to inform their society how evil, and greedy Jews are from pictures the propagandist illustrated. They made them out to be misshaped, dirty, greedy, and ultimately a threat to society. Thus creating stereotypes for Jewish people. -
Politics and Art
Germans incorporated art and politics into one. The Nazi party took it upon themselves to hide Germans from the horrors of the outside world by completely shutting them out and portraying their own beliefs and opinions. -
We are not outsiders.
Jewish individuals held highly respected positions in the workforce who considered themselves as Germans, not as outsiders, they were also respected veterans of WW1. The Nazi party used propaganda to persuade their audience that the Jews weren’t not as they seem, that they were basically the scum of the Earth. -
Eagle Pride
Germans use an Eagle as a symbol of protection for the German community. When Hitler is in power, the Eagle is still used as a Nazi symbol. Thus intertwining the Eagle, Nazis, and Germany itself as one. -
Fine Art of Propaganda
‘The Fine Art of Propaganda’ was published. This helped not only American authorities to realize what Hitler was up to, but allowed the German community to have a different insight, other than Hitler’s. -
Degenerate Art
Nazi’s not only believed that Jews would ruin their race, they also thought that degenerate art and ideas would corrupt the minds of the German people. They took all the infectious art, posters, and people out of sight of the Germans and replaced it with their own devious ideas. -
Hitlers faults are brought to light
Jewish writer, Victor Klemperer found the truths of Nazi propaganda. He stated that the words and phrases the Nazi’s used were hooks, they lured people in by using words such as unique and eternal. This made the German community feel safe and important. -
Hitlers subliminal messages
Propaganda is effectively used when fear is put into the readers through subliminal messaging, such as Hitler did when he was campaigning against the Jews. -
Harmless words, Devious meanings
Nazi’s took harmless German words, and modified them to fit the life they were hoping to install in the German race such as Judenfrei Gemacht, meaning to be free of the Jews. These words soon took on more devious meanings as time progressed with Hitler in power. -
Definition of Propaganda
Propaganda is the manipulation of public opinion, generally carried out through media that is able to persuade people by playing on their emotions, not their logic.
