    The workers who participated in this strike were looking for 20 percent wage increases because of how hard they worked. Most of them got at least a 10 percent increase. They also asked for an 8-hour day instead of 10 and got 9.
  • Department of Commerce Established

    Department of Commerce Established
    It was made to help with economic growth and promote job creation. It also improved standards of living for Americans.
  • Antiquities Act

    Antiquities Act
    This law provided general legal protection for historic monuments on federal lands. In addition to the monuments, several resources were protected.
  • Hepburn Act

    Hepburn Act
    Federal regulators in the ICC were granted the power to legally order railroads to set reasonable rates. Theodore Roosevelt also monitored the pricing.
  • Meat Inspection Act

    Meat Inspection Act
    This law makes it so that you can't misbrand meat and then sell it to the public. It makes sure that they are slaughtered and made sanitary.

    They prohibited the misbranding of foods being sold to the public. It also laid a foundation for the FDA to start double-checking all these.

    This amendment grants congress the authority to issue an income tax. It doesn't need to be determined based on population as it did before.

    It is responsible for federal laws governing the occupancy of safety and health. Improve working conditions for working people. Advance profit for employment.

    This amendment grants the ability to have two senators from each state to have one vote. Senate vacancies could last for months or years depending on what it is.

    This law strengthened the authority of the ICC over railroad rates. It made them better and made sure they would be better about it instead of it being so high.
  • Federal Reserve Act

    It created the Federal Reserve System, which was made up of twelve banks that were responsible for managing the country's money.
  • Federal Trade Commission Act

    Federal Trade Commission Act
    It was made so that they could prevent unfair competition. It also prevents unfair deceptive acts or practices of affecting commerce.

    This law prevented unfair business with monopolies and with money ranges. It also helped make prices and things a lot more tolerable to get and obtain.

    This act made it so that child labor was set back a whole bunch so it wasn't as bad anymore. It still happened but it was made to where they work less, and make sure they are doing child things.

    It set the limit you could work normally every day to 8 hours. You could work overtime if you worked with railroads since that took awhile in general.

    It was made to cover any employee's sickness, injury, or inability to do anything about a situation. It made it so that the company or whoever had to pay for the expenses.
  • 18th Amendment

    18th Amendment
    This amendment strictly prohibited the travel or buying of alcohol at all. It was put into action for the reason of people drinking too much and having a bunch of families with stress and trauma.
  • Volstead Act

    Volstead Act
    This law recalled all alcoholic beverages that had at least 0.5% or greater alcohol in volume. It was taken away from everyone who had it and put away and wasted.
  • 19th Amendment

    19th Amendment
    This amendment gave women the right to vote. It allowed everyone to vote now since women were the only ones who couldn't.
