    I give this event a ranking of -1.This war brought Canada in as a result of us being a dominion of Britain when it was Britain's fight not ours. We were duty bound to help despite this fact. My primary source is the interactive chart in U2A1.

    I give this event a ranking of +2. This is because the war helped to give women the chance to prove they weren't just fragile weak creatures. They proved that they could work and not just be housewives. My primary source is U2A3 information and activities.

    Llandovery Castle hospital ship taken down by the Germans
    I give this event a -1. This is because a German U-boat torpedoed this hospital ship even though they were said to be off limits to attacks. This caused many deaths including many Canadians nurses. My primary source us from U2A2 Mae Belle and the nurses overseas.

    This general strike as well as many others in the 1920s was about labour unrest. The cops and the government officials handled dispersing the crowd horribly. two died and so many were hurt and beaten by cops for trying to get better wages. If the people in charge just did what they asked and gave them better pay considering the cost of living went up this would not have happened.     I give this event a ranking of +2. This is because the people were overall very happy, they were prospering and were free to do more than before. The 20s also brought in the job opportunities for women. My primary source is the Canadiana Scrapbook from U2A5.
  • Labour Unrest in Oshawa

    My ranking of this event is a 0. This is because the General Motors or GM workers went on strike for a week due to Gm trying to cut the already low wages by 40%. Afetr the strike those workers created their own federal labour union after the wage cut was reversed. This federal labour union still stands to this day. My primary source is the Textbook page 40.

    My ranking for this event is a 0. The mining workers in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia went on strike for better pay. Only one of the strikers was killed in this riot which is still commemorated to this day My primary source is the textbook page 40.
  • Fishermen strike

    Fishermen strike
    My ranking of this event is a 0. Fishermen from Nova Scotia were also facing labour unrest and went on strike. During this it started a movement called the “Antigonish Cooperative Movement” and the workers were trying to figure out why the wages were so low and the cost of living was so high. These workers ended up creating a new cooperative and built their own canneries. My primary source is the textbook page 40.
