His Debut
Prince released his debut album, “For You.” And it peaked at 163 on the charts but did not create any hit singles. -
At the Top
A year later, he hastily recorded the single, “I Wanna Be Your Lover,” after recording “For You.” It then became his first Top 40 hit, spending two weeks at number one on the R&B singles chart and hitting number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. -
The Movie
After some time, he releases an album titled “Purple Rain” and stared in a movie with the same name. The album sold an incredible 13 million copies just in the U.S. and produced two number 1 singles, Let’s Go Crazy” and “When Doves Cry,” which won a Grammy and an Academy Award. The movie and the album both hit number 1 the same week.
