Maryland taxed The First Bank of the United States. McCulloch(the bank's cashier) didn't agree. The case went to the Supreme Court, and ruled in favor of McCulloch. -

The Monroe Doctrine was a policy that stated European nations could not colonize North America or South America and it they refused, military force would be used against them. It also made it so that the United States could not interfere with any European affairs. -
Gibbons vs. Ogden
Ogedn purchased an intrest in the monopoly to operate steamoats that New York granted Livington and Fulton. Ogden brought suit on Gibbons for operating rival steamboats between New York city and New Jersy ports. Gibbons was being charged to operate there. The Suprreme Court in favor of Gibbons. -
