    Representatives from France government were demanding money from American ambassadors. The US was upset with France (longtime ally) because they were attacking our trades ships. Adams didn't pay the demand and instead built a stronger Navy with more naval ships.

    Worcester was a missionary that was stationed with the Cherokee Indians. But Georgia had a law stating that we could not live wit native Americans. So they threw him in prison. but the Cherokee nation fell under federal law. So the government sided with Worcester.
