John Adams vs. Thomas Jefferson – 1800
John Adams was president at the time after he had won against Thomas Jefferson the first time. It was time for the rematch. Federalists from Four of the states including Vermont and Maryland exchanged their Votes to “present” on the 36th ballot and resulted in Thomas Jefferson becoming 3rd President of the United States. -
Rutherford B. Hayes vs. Samuel Tilden – 1876
Hayes was losing by 19 votes and there were 20 uncounted votes. These were disputed in Florida, Louisiana, and South Carolina, and the 20 doubtful electoral votes were awarded to Hayes, making him become elected. -
George W. Bush vs. Al Gore – 2000
Both presidents had a bad past and it was pointed out during the election. It was suprising that Bush won the election. -
Barack Obama vs. John McCain – 2008
First Obama had to compete with Hillary Clinton tp become the represtive of the Democratic party. Both of the canadates had both sides of good and bad. As usual the other nominee pointed out the flaws of one another, but in the end Obama won the election
