Japan invades Manchuria
The Japanese Kwangtung Army attacked Chinese troops in Manchuria in an event commonly known as the Manchurian Incident. Essentially, this was an attempt by the Japanese Empire to gain control over the whole province, in order to eventually encompass all of East Asia. -
Franklin D. Roosevelt elected President of the United States
Roosevelt was elected to a third term with the promise of maintaining American neutrality as far as foreign wars were concerned: "Let no man or woman thoughtlessly or falsely talk of American people sending its armies to European fields." But as Hitler's war spread, and the desperation of Britain grew, the president fought for passage of the Lend-Lease Act in Congress, in March 1941, which would commit financial aid to Great Britain and other allies. -
HItler becomes Chancellor of Germany
In 1933, Hitler was appointed Chancellor of the Reich. Hitler was appointed by President Paul von Hindenburg. This is the begining of Hitler concise plan. When he was appointed there were huge parties thrown all throughout the streets. -
Reichstag Fire
The Reichstag is where the parliment assembles. There was an arson set on the Reichstag, and it is believed that the fire was started by a communist. This gave Hitler more evidence that communist were trying take over Germany. This supported Hitler to becoming a dictator. -
Enabling Act
The Enabing Act was signed by President Hindenburg and Germany's Reichstag. This said that Hitler had all parliment powers. He could now do things without having to pass it through parliment. This is the second step of Hitler becoming a dictator. -
Nazi Germany Established
Many people believe that World War II was started by Adolf Hitler and his defying of the Treaty of Versailles (the previous treaty from World War I). Adolf Hitler had started rebuilding his army and had stopped paying war damages. This caused a disruption from the Allies and started World War II. -
Germany withdraws from League of Nations
Germany withdrew from the League of Nations so that it could rebuild its army to its own liking. Despite being weak, the League was clearly a hindrance to a nation that had its own interests in mind. -

Hitler becomes Dictator
Hitler becomes dictator after Hindenburg dies; he decides to take on his roles as president as well as chancellor. Hitler also secretly had his Nazi party act badly in the community so he could tell parliment that they need to become a fascitst country. They did not argue with him. -

Germany violated the Treaty of Versailles by rebuilding their military. A part of the treaty was that Germany was not allowed to have a large military because of their aggressive actions in WWI. They also violated the treaty by invading Poland on September 1, 1939. -

The Italian invasion of Ethiopia was initiated in the month of October 1935. It was a brief colonial war that is also remembered in history as the second Italo-Abyssinian war. Germany and Japan had signed an Anti-Comintern Pact that declared the hostility of the two countries to international communism. In case of an unprovoked attack by the Soviet Union against Germany or Japan, the two nations agreed to consult on what measures to take "to safeguard their common interests". It also agreed that neither nation would make any political treaties with the Soviet Union. -
Meeting with Germany, France, Britain, and Italy
This meeting is called The Munich Agreement. It was held in Germany, all of Europes majors powers was at this meeting. It was called mainly to permit Germany in taking over Sudetenland, Czechoslovakia. This took most of Czechoslovakia's power since it was on the border. They had most of the defenses there. This set Hitler up to control all of Czechoslovakia. -

The British and french gave into Hitlers demands and gave him the Sudetenland without a fight. Hitler promished this would be his last territorial gain but Whinston Churchill had warned it was not. -
