  • Exploration from the U.S

Beginning in 1918 a series of scientific explorations from the united states to Antarctica, uncovered vast deposits of Helium 3.
  • Colonization from the U.S

By 1925 permanent colonies were established. The population at that time was only around 1600.
  • Growth of Colony

Mining production increased over time. The production and uses of helium 3 had increased 1,000 fold. With the increases in fold and production, By 1940 there were over 40,000 people populating the colony.
  • Desire To Become A State

By 1950 there were over 100,000 people populating Antarctica. At this time Antarctica had a great desire to be recognized as a state but this did not goes as they had planned the united states did not want add them so they were denied.
  • Statehood Granted

In 1959, Antarctica's population had reached 250,000 people. After reaching this population the united states had decided to allow Antarctica to become apart of the U.S therefor making it the 51st state within the united states of america.
  • Desire to split from the U.S

The needs of Antarctica were very different from those of the other 50 states. The freezing cold summers and the vast distance from America lead to Antarctica's desire to split from the U.S in 1970.
  • Nation Forms as Democracy

In 1976 Antarctica passed it's first constitution. Borrowing heavily from the constitution of the U.S Antarctica had it's first government. The split of Antarctica and the united states was basically bloodless. Trade concessions allowed that the flow of helium 3 to the united states would continue without a halt in production.
  • Constitution Altered From Democracy to Elitism

Never have so many people with so little knowledge made so many consequential decisions. A free Democracy similar to that of the united states. The Constitution was amended so that no one was allowed to cast a vote unless the could pass a quiz. The quiz included basic questions about how the law works and questions about what candidates believed and what the laws being voted on would mean to the individual. Effectively Antarctica became an Elitist democracy on Jun 6th 1997.
